WHAT BUILDINGS CAN LEARN FROM NATURE: BIOMIMICRY 101
About What Buildings Can Learn from Nature: Biomimicry 101
Through biomimicry (or nature-inspired innovation), how can built environments in cities be shaped to function like rainforests? Join the team from bioSEA, an ecological and biomimicry design firm that seeks to answer this very question, and uncover the answers nature has offered. With their biomimicry design toolkit as a guide, learn the basics and see how nature (such as termite mounds) could inform the design of building skins. Share your ideas and co-create biomimicry-based solutions with fellow participants.
No prior knowledge of biomimicry is needed.
This session welcomes adults with an interest in learning from nature. It is also recommended for those with a background or interest in architectural design or related fields looking to build more sustainable practices.
To learn more about the projects, visit the Good Design Research pop-up exhibition – A Day in the Life at Bugis+.
What Buildings Can Learn from Nature: Biomimicry 101 is a Community Event of SDW 2022
This session is led by Anuj Jain and Lisa Teo from bioSEA – an ecological and biomimicry design firm that works to transform the green and blue spaces in the built environment into beautiful, biodiverse and ecologically functional habitats. They also develop cutting edge biomimicry solutions to naturally cool our cities and thus, drive new levels of sustainability for the built environment. They are guided by our motto to shape built environments to function like rainforests.
